Located in the heart of Trenton’s emergent Creative District lies Hanover Creative (HC). One of our foundational goals was to build upon Trenton’s Creek to Canal Creative District’s vision: to embrace arts-based communities and economic development as catalysts of positive change and restored vitality.
Our mission here at HC is to serve as both a digital and physical network for artists, arts enthusiasts, and creative entrepreneurs in the Central Jersey region and beyond.
Beginnings.
Hanover Creative was built upon the success of Elijah Dixon and Christien Nicole Brown's first project, Orchid House Cafe. Serving as Downtown Trenton's best kept secret for specialty drinks, good eats, arts, and culture, Dixon began renovations in 2015. Orchid House features their partners’ residence and a first floor cafe.
Connections.
Only a block away from Orchid House, the Hanover Creative project began when Dixon and Brown partnered with local developer, Trenton Makes, Inc., led by Roland Pott. Trenton Makes Inc. has owned and operated a commercial building at 439 South Broad Street that features studios and creative office space, as well as restaurant and retail space.
Transformation.
A former arts center left in disrepair, 219 East Hanover Street began renovations in 2019 to create a new gallery, artist studio space, and co-working space for creative entrepreneurs. This transformation would not have been possible without the collaboration and partnership from Isles, Inc., Trenton Downtown Association, and the City of Trenton.
