Hanover Creative Gallery (HCG) is a contemporary exhibition space, artist hub, and community learning haven, dedicated to increasing arts exposure and strengthening the bond between artists, under-resourced groups, and the wider community.
Exhibit curation, overseen by Áine Mickey, emphasizes highly conceptual exhibitions, presenting works by advanced, mid-career, and emerging artists. This approach aims to cultivate collections that are universally accessible while concurrently advancing creative inquiry and intellectual discourse. HCG's programming is focused on providing art experiences to groups in need and supporting the surrounding community through offerings such as professional development, artist-led workshops, and venues for performance and language-based creative exploration.
Join Hanover Creative Gallery for its inaugural exhibition, Fiber Politic, a collection of textile-based work that comments on the U.S. political landscape and its people. This diverse collection includes fiber installations, sculptures, and wall pieces addressing critical issues such as healthcare, housing access, political propaganda, environmental concerns, wars, immigration, and finally, a bit of hope for our future.
Featured artists include Patricia Dahlman, Kwesi Kwarteng, Tamara Torres, Krystle Lemonias, and Woolpunk. Together, they employ a wide range of materials in their respective practices, from Ghanaian kente cloth and wool to upcycled clothing. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, March 21st from 6-8pm, and an Artist Talk will be held on Saturday, April 25th at 3pm.
Fiber Politic will be on display March 21st to April 25th. The Gallery is open to the public Fridays 11:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Viewing appointments are available upon request.
