Hanover Creative Gallery (HCG) is a contemporary exhibition space, artist hub, and community learning haven, dedicated to increasing arts exposure and strengthening the bond between artists, under-resourced groups, and the wider community.
Exhibit curation, overseen by Áine Mickey, emphasizes highly conceptual exhibitions, presenting works by advanced, mid-career, and emerging artists. This approach aims to cultivate collections that are universally accessible while concurrently advancing creative inquiry and intellectual discourse. HCG's programming is focused on providing art experiences to groups in need and supporting the surrounding community through offerings such as professional development, artist-led workshops, and venues for performance and language-based creative exploration.
Stay in the Streets brings together 16 artists exploring themes of protest, resistance, civic engagement, and community. Through painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and installation, the exhibition examines how individuals and communities respond to moments of social and political change.
The exhibition takes its title from a call to action delivered by civil rights leader John Lewis during the 1963 March on Washington.
Opening Reception: Friday, June 5 from 6–8 PM
Featured Artists: Yasmeena Azer, Wesley R. Bishop, Kyra Clemons, Terrance Cummings, Peter Eisengrein, Justin Ellis, Deonta Elite, Gayle Furbert, Raven George, Edgardo Luis Gonzalez, John Gummere, Mark Krajnak, Deneise Lewis-King, James Munson, Susana Plotquin, and Having All Shu’Aib:
